How Inkquirey discovery works

Inkquirey is designed to help clients search for tattoos — not scroll past them.

Why your profile actually matters

Inkquirey is trying to build something tattooing hasn't really had before — a better way for clients to discover artists.

For years we've relied on word of mouth and social media, and lately those platforms haven't exactly been helping artists get seen.

Inkquirey flips that around.

Instead of chasing algorithms or constantly posting to stay visible, your profile becomes the thing that helps people find you. Once it's set up properly, it becomes more of a set-and-forget system that keeps working in the background.

The goal is simple: help people who are already looking for your style actually find you.

What actually helps you appear in search

A few things make the biggest difference.

  • Your city. Clients often search locally. Without a city set, you won't appear in nearby searches.
  • Your tattoo styles. Selecting the styles you genuinely work in helps Inkquirey connect your profile to the right searches.
  • Tagged portfolio tattoos. When you tag a tattoo with style, placement and colour type, that piece becomes searchable. Someone looking for a healed blackwork forearm tattoo could end up finding your work directly.
  • A short bio. Even a couple of lines about your style or approach helps clients understand your work and feel confident reaching out.

Why tagging your tattoos matters

Every tattoo you tag creates another way for someone to find your work.

For example, if someone searches for:

healed blackwork forearm tattoo

and you've tagged a piece with blackwork, forearm, and healed — that tattoo can show up in that search.

Untagged images still look good in your portfolio, but they don't help you get discovered.

Tagging isn't about admin — it's just giving you and your tattoos more ways to be found.

You don't need to do everything at once either. Even tagging your best 5 pieces can make a noticeable difference.

Quick tips for getting discovered

  • 1.Select every tattoo style you genuinely work in — not just your favourite one.
  • 2.Upload healed work where you have it. Clients trust healed results.
  • 3.Use the caption field to describe the piece naturally, the way you'd talk about it to a client.
  • 4.Set your city. It's the single most searched field.
  • 5.Keep your books open status accurate. Nothing wastes a client's time more than a closed calendar they didn't expect.

What Inkquirey is actually trying to do

Inkquirey is a community-led platform built by a tattoo artist who understands how the industry works — and where it could be better.

Instead of artists fighting algorithms or relying purely on social media, Inkquirey focuses on helping clients search for the work they actually want.

Structured profiles and tagged tattoos make that possible. When artists set up their profiles properly, the platform can connect their work with people already looking for that style.

No chasing trends. No constant posting. Just a set and forget system that helps you and your work get found.
